Miss Tomlinson- Executive Principal
As the Headteacher, I am automatically a member of the governing body. Prior to working at Middlestown: I worked as Deputy Head and Year 5 teacher at Larks Hill in Pontefract; I was an Advanced Skills teacher and worked in Year 3 at Dane Royd School and my first school was Stocksbridge in Sheffield where I worked in Year 4, 5, 6. I was also the teacher governor in all of my previous schools. Having been born in a village I feel a real affinity to Middlestown and love working with the children and parents of this community.
Hannah Young – Head of Academy
I attend Governors meetings as an associate member because of my role as Head of Academy. I have worked at the school for 4 years and am a teacher in Year 2. I started my teaching in Hampshire, I then moved to a school in Calderdale where I was senior teacher and SENCo and then moved to Wakefield to work here. I have a real passion for literacy especially reading and I am literacy co-ordinator.
At the weekends I like to play badminton, read books and go to the theatre. The rest of my time is spent with my family (my 3 young daughters keep me very busy!)
Cheryl Ashcroft – Assistant Headteacher & Teacher Governor
I have recently been voted in to the Governing Body as the teacher governor by the staff at Middlestown and I am looking forward to taking on my new role.
I am Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo at Middlestown and previous to this have worked as Senior Teacher and SENDCo since September 2015. During this time I have also worked in Year 1 and am the school Designated Safeguarding Lead, Designated Teacher for Looked After Children, Music Leader as well as Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. I have successfully completed my Level 7 Post Graduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs as part of this role.
Before coming to Middlestown, I worked in other schools in the Wakefield Authority as well as spending 9 years teaching in a school in Leeds as Literacy and Key Stage 1 leader. My move to Middlestown was due to being ready for a new challenge and I was lucky enough to find a school which is close to my home. It really is a great team to be a part of.
I live locally with my husband, 2 young girls and dog. Family life keeps me busy. I also enjoy reading, travelling and playing netball, which has been a passion of mine since being at school myself and I have even set up a Middlestown staff team.
