Home / Our School / Eco Council

The Eco-council is made up of 2 members of each class from Years 1-6. They meet regularly to discuss ways to make Middlestown School more eco-friendly, e.g. by ensuring that each class has a paper recycling bin, and they also look after the school garden.

So far the team have planted flowers and vegetables, such as potatoes, lettuce, beetroot, green beans and tomatoes, which have then been prepared and eaten in eco-council meetings. Some of the ingredients have also been given to Mrs Kentgens in the School Kitchen and cooked as part of the children’s School Dinners.

Also, the team wrote to Wakefield Council to request compost bins to help the children recycle the school’s fruit and vegetable waste.

Here are some photos of our green-fingered representatives!
